Wet v.s. Dry Dog Food

Let’s start with dry kibble. Dry kibble doesn’t rot. It has the advantage of being able to be left out all day. It also is more economical unless you’re buying the high end boutique kibble like I often do. I should buy stock in Vital Essentials and Stella and Chewy’s!🤣❤️🐶 Also, dry kibble is better on the teeth. On the opposing end, dry kibble lacks moisture. If you live in a hot, dry climate like Arizona you will need to have plenty of water available!🌞

Wet dog food can be more expensive. But, it does have more moisture. It is usually gobbled up by most picky eaters. I prefer fresh wet dog food myself. My dogs love the Freshpet Vital grain free line from Petco/Petsmart. Unfortunately, it has to be refrigerated or it will spoil. It is also messier. Your sweet Shih Tzus beard can get pretty dirty after meals.

In the end, it comes down to personal choice. Talk to your vet and do what will work best for your family. I personally use a mixed approach. I like to rotate foods. It’s what works around my household. 🐶🐾❤️🏡
